PCB – Recycling for Manufacturing
OSAI’s experience within the European ADIR project, comes the RE4M project – Recycling for Manufacturing, an innovative system for the automated extraction and selection of electronic components for the recovery of critical and precious metals.
RE4M makes it possible to apply the best existing technologies and experience to the world of electronic waste recycling (WEEE), transforming waste into new raw material to be inserted into new production processes with a view to the circular economy.
The technology developed by Osai, in combination with the technologies of its partner BTT Italia S.r.l., allows high levels of efficiency with low environmental impact and the efficient refining of metals such as gold, silver, palladium and copper.
The plant and its innovative technology are patented.
HARD-DISK – Systems for recovering rare earths from hard disks
Innovative project designed to automate the process of extracting, separating and sorting valuable components from disused hard disk. Rare earths such as neodymium, praseodymium, samarium and dysprosium contained in permanent magnets, obtained from the disassembly of old hard disk Drives, allow through specific processes to obtain secondary raw material to be reintroduced into production processes destined for high-end applications such as the production of components for electrical and medical vehicles.
The treatment of disused electronic devices rich in rare earths, such as hard disk, is an urgent issue in terms of data security, environmental protection and sustainable development. In this regard, consider that despite the strategic importance of these materials, the EU extracts less than 10% of them with a strong dependence on Asian countries.
In cooperation with various businesses and the academic world through the “Resource” project, Osai GreenTech is developing a specific robot system for the automated treatment of disused hard disks from WEEE recovery.
Osai GreenTech also makes its expertise and technology available to its customers to develop customised solutions based on specific recovery or recycling needs.
BATTERIES – Systems for recycling and reusing lithium batteries
We are witnessing the E-mobility explosion, with exponential growth of electric vehicles strongly linked to the production capacity of the battery industry. Demand is estimated to be 3,500 Gwh in 2030. In this scenario, it will be crucial to ensure the abundance of raw materials that enable the production of batteries such as lithium, cobalt and nickel, paying attention to end-of-life management of batteries as an indispensable process to ensure the recovery of raw materials with a view to sustainability.
This is why Osai GreenTech has launched a project aimed at creating an automated system for the sustainable recycling of lithium ion batteries, which through a mechanical process will enable the disassembly of the battery pack into its individual components, modules and cells, for subsequent recovery.
Osai GreenTech also makes its expertise and technology available to its customers to develop customised solutions based on specific recovery, reuse or recycling needs.
PHOTOVOLTAIC – Systems for recycling photovoltaic systems
By 2050 it is estimated that there will be more than 78 million tonnes of old photovoltaic panels to be managed in terms of recycling and recovery of secondary raw materials.
The management of end-of-life photovoltaic modules offers the opportunity to recover various materials to be reintroduced into production processes also thanks to the efficiency of material recovery, which today stands at 98%.
The process developed by Osai GreenTech involves the creation of an automated system capable of disassembling and selectively separating the materials that make-up the panels (glass, plastic, aluminium, silicon and copper), and preparing them for subsequent chemical treatment of the cells and recycling of the elements.
Osai GreenTech also makes its expertise and technology available to its customers to develop customised solutions based on specific recovery or recycling needs.
